School of Business

Brief Introduction

The business education of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology can be traced to the economic management major and accounting major in the early 1990s. In 2017, the university has adjusted the school division, and according to the overall planning and layout of the university, the School of Business came into being. Our school inherits the educational ideas of “being honest, erudite and outstanding”, adheres to the student-oriented concept, takes the market as guide, teaching team construction and scientific management as guarantee to deepen the teaching reform, standardize the teaching management and constantly optimize the education environment. The staffs are united and have always been committed to “educating first-class talents, making first-class results and benefits and being the first–class school”. The school has cultivated numerous internationalized, innovative, versatile and applied talents for China and other countries around the world.


School of Business has three departments, namely the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting and Finance and the Department of Economics, and provide one second-level doctoral program of Management Science and Engineering, two master programs of Business Management and Applied Economics and two professional master programs of Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). There are five undergraduate majors: International Economics and Trade, Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resource Management and Marketing.


School of Business has highly competent faculty with professional academic background. Currently, we have 85 faculty members, including 70 full-time teachers, of which 12 are professors, 25 are associate professors, and 33 are lectures. Full-time teachers with doctoral degree take up 92%, and there are 3 doctoral supervisors and 36 master supervisors. More than 50% of them has overseas study experience. A high-quality and age reasonably structured teaching and research team has been built. Our teachers are dynamic in diversified aspects of teaching, scientific research and social service.


In recent years, the employment rate of our graduates has remained above 98%. Some graduates have gone to Beijing University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and other famous universities to continue their studies. And every year many students will go to Yale University, University of Sydney, University of Reading, St. Joseph University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and other famous universities to participate in exchange student projects. The school also attaches great importance to students’ innovation and entrepreneurship education. In the past three years, our students have won 76 innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students and achieved excellent achievements in academic competitions, cultural and sports activities.

Research Institutes

Development Institute of Jiangbei New Area

Development Institute of Jiangbei New Area (hereinafter referred to as the Research Institute) was founded in August 2017, co-constructed by Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Management Committee, Institute of Industrial Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government Research Office, periodical office of “Qunzhong” magazine of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC, Nanjing Academy of Social Sciences and other units. Based on the development strategy of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, the Research Institute conducts the decision-making consultation, policy services and academic researches on the basic strategies and development ideas of the new development pattern of Jiangsu province and even the Yangtze River Delta region.

The Research Institute has built a scientific research team with part-time and full-time teachers, and have invited many domestic high-level experts to serve as distinguish professors or part-time professors to cooperate in research projects. A number of front-line staff of the Jiangbei New Area Management Committee act as the members of the research team to provide practical experience and data support for the research. Full-time researchers with doctoral degree take up 100%, including two academicians, four 973 chief scientists, one Changjiang Distinguished Professor, three winners of National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, six experts selected in National Thousand Talents Program, one leading researcher of Ten Thousand Talent Program, four experts selected in Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project and other types of talents. The Research Institute has formed scientific research advantages in the areas of regional development, industrial transformation, social governance, and regional ecological civilization construction, and the comprehensive scientific research strength has been significantly improved. In the past three years, researchers of the Research Institute has published nearly 200 articles on the SSCI, SCI and CSSCI cited journals, such as Nature, Science, Economic Research, Management World and etc.; have undertaken more than 70 national research projects and 90 provincial research projects, with the research funds of nearly a hundred million; two achievements got the instructions from the governor and deputy governor of Jiangsu Province, and several achievements were accepted by the Ministry of Education. The horizontal projects have got a good start, and the cooperation among production, education and scientific research has made great progress.


Research Center for Prospering Jiangsu Province with Talents

In 2011, “Research Center for Prospering Jiangsu Province with Talents” (hereinafter referred to as the Research Center) co-constructed by Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology and Leading Group Office of Jiangsu Provincial Talent Work was selected into the first batch of Decision-making Consultation Research Bases in Jiangsu Province. The Research Center adheres to the internationalization direction, studies the talent work of Jiangsu with international ideas, visions and means, and aims to provide references for the major development strategy of the provincial party committee and government and promote Jiangsu to become the fertile land for talent theory and team innovation.


Subcenter of Research Center for Technological Innovation, Tsinghua University

Innovation is a powerful source of human development and of China’s prosperity. Developing new technology and innovation independently and building an innovation-oriented country has become China’s national strategy. Based on this background, Research Center for Technological Innovation, Tsinghua University (hereinafter referred to as RCTI) was founded in 2000. And in November 2014, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Science in Universities. The Subcenter of Research Center for Technological Innovation in Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology is the first subcenter established by RCTI. Under the guidance of RCTI, the subcenter has been pursuing excellence in theoretical research in innovation and in facilitating decision-making at the national, sectional, regional and firm levels. It strives to become a cradle of fostering professionals, a platform for academic exchanges, an information gathering center, a consultative service system for critical decision-making, and a hub and demonstration center for the development of innovation-related disciplines.


Research Teams

Environmental Accounting

The environmental accounting research team applies modern accounting theory and methods, and combines with economics, management, atmospheric sciences and resource and environmental science, to conduct the interdisciplinary research on the basic theories and methods of corporate environmental accounting and auditing from the perspective of accounting and auditing disciplines.

The main research contents include: environmental accounting and policy, environmental audit and control, basic theories and application method of environmental audit, measurement standard of environmental resources value compensation, cost accounting and cost internalization of ecological damage, environmental social responsibility information disclosure, environmental audit verification and environmental performance assessment and management control,  energy consumption and economic impacts of climate change, and  green GDP accounting system.

The research objective is to conduct theoretical and applied research on environmental accounting and auditing and design relevant management policies for sustainable economic development and environmental protection in China, and to establish a theoretical system of environmental accounting and auditing that is suitable for China's actual situation.


Enterprise Management

The research team always stands at the forefront of the development of enterprise management theory and practice, and is committed to researching and solving major theoretical and practical problems in the operation management, growth and transformation of the enterprises. The researchers of the team are positioned to conduct academic research in the field of enterprise organization and human resource management, marketing management, enterprise investment and financing, and internal control of enterprises, and is committed to promoting the integration of enterprise management discipline construction and enterprise management practice, improving professional teaching and scientific research quality, and  serving the regional enterprise management and development.

Main research fields: enterprise investment and financing, enterprise internal control, enterprise strategic planning, marketing theory and application, human resources development, enterprise development strategy and governance, enterprise information management, organizational behavior, strategic management.


Innovation Management

The research team is committed to solving the problem of innovation management in social and economic development, carrying out the research based on the policy, theoretical and practical issues of government and enterprises in innovation management, and providing decision support services for economic development and the development of innovative management talents.

Main research fields: national science and technology policy, micro-management of enterprise innovation process, research and development management, new product development, enterprise technology innovation mechanism, knowledge innovation and management.


Green Development and Transformation of Enterprises

The research team actively responds to the national strategy of building ecological civilization and promoting green development, focuses on institutional reform to provide scientific theory and practical experience for green development, and green low-carbon and circular development solutions for regional development, industrial upgrading and enterprise transformation, and explores the institutional mechanism of effective use of intellectual resources, industrial resources and industry need to provide decision-making support for promoting the construction of national ecological civilization, realizing the grand goal of beautiful China, and improving the scientific development of the country.

Main research field: green development strategy and planning, energy saving and emission reduction, regional development and energy transformation, green finance and sustainable development, ecological civilization and social governance.  


Environmental and Meteorological Economics

Relying on the advantages of the discipline of atmospheric science in our university, the research team integrates meteorological, environmental and economic disciplines to carry out research.

Main research fields: environmental cost measurement, meteorological financial derivatives, agricultural meteorological insurance.

Research features: 1. Apply the environmental cost measurement to energy industry to broaden the idea of ecological compensation.

2. Combine the financial instruments with meteorological index to construct meteorological financial derivatives.

3. Evaluate the climate adaptability of regional agriculture to construct the regional agricultural insurance index.

Research Achievements

During the recent five years, School of Business has undertaken a total of 124 research projects, including 17 national research projects, 30 provincial projects and 77 other types of projects, with the research funds of nearly 10 million yuan; and has published more than 500 academic papers, including 416 papers published on the core journals, 69 monographs and received 37 prizes at all levels.
