School of Computer & Software

About us

Established in 1987, School of Computer and Software has now three departments, i.e. Department of Computer Science and Technology, Department of Software Technology and Engineering, and Department of Network Technology and Engineering; one provincial engineering center, i.e. Jiangsu Engineering Center of Network Monitoring; two Central and local constructed laboratories, i.e. Information Security Lab and High Performance Grid Computing & Parallel Computing Lab; one provincial  teaching demonstration center, i.e. Software Engineering Lab (the former NIIT lab); and another two specialized laboratories, i.e. Network & Embedded Development Lab, and Image Processing & Pattern Recognition Lab.

Undergraduate & Postgraduate Education System
The School of Computer and Software has now three undergraduate programs, including BSc Computer Science and Technology, BSc Software Engineering, and BSc Network Engineering; two first-level disciplines authorized to offer master degrees, i.e. MSc Software Engineering and MSc Computer Science and Technology; one doctoral program, that is ScD Meteorological Information Technology and Security. In addition, the subject of Sensor Networks and Modern Meteorological Equipment has been authorized as the Priority Academic Program Development of Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions. In recent years, the School has been devoted  to overseas communication and cooperation. We have established solid relationship with Waterford Institute of Technology (Ireland), Kyung Hee University (Korea) etc.

Staff & Students
School of Computer and Software has 67 full-time teaching staff, involving 13 professors, 7 PhD supervisors, 20 associate professors (including advanced engineers and associate researchers). The ratio of doctors to the young full-time teachers (under 45 years old) is 100%. We have also  employed over 10 well-known scholars from home and abroad as our part-time/visiting professors.

The School of Computer and Software has founded six research groups, including Networks and Information Security group, Internet of Things group, Data Mining group, Pattern Recognition group, Image Process group, and Meteorological Information Process group. For the past years, almost 20 national research projects have been secured, including “973” projects, “863” projects and China NNSF key projects,  as well as 40 research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Province and China Meteorological Administration. Over 500 high quality scientific papers have been published, of which 200 papers are indexed by SCI and EI. We have also won more than 20 Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards. The research achievements have been well applied to the fields of military, national security and China Meteorological Administration.
