About us

School of Economics and Management at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology which was established in August, 2006 brings together a unique mix of expertise in economic and trade, information and management and human resource (The history of School of Economics & Management specialty can be traced back to 1991.).We have seven teaching departments including finance and accounting, information management, economics and trade, marketing, human resource management, logistics management and department of finance and insurance. There are currently 2,759 undergraduate students registered for BSc degrees involving eight undergraduate majors like finance and accounting, information management, economics and trade, marketing, human resource management, logistics management and finance and insurance and 64 postgraduate students registered for degrees of management science and engineering and business administration in our school.

We have teaching staff with good ethics demeanor, ages and structure, who love and respect teaching , and possess high academic research capacities. By May,2012, there are 119 people including 98 full-time teachers, among which are 4 professors, 58 associate professors (including PhDs with treatment of associate professors) and 36 lecturers. The ratio of doctors of full-time teachers is 88% (including PhD). We also have 13 people who are doctoral tutors or master tutors.

We pay great importance to management of teaching process and objectives and strive to improve teaching levels. The rate of excellent scores of teaching examination of our school remains above 99%. Since 2006, the staff has published more than 100 teaching and research papers and 13 textbooks such as "Emergency Management", "Accounting"and "Finance", "meteorological economics", " market marketing ". And there are more than 20 teachers achieved teaching awards. We have a good experimental teaching condition with a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center of Jiangsu Province and construct laboratories of relative majors. A state-level innovation experimental zone of personnel training model of finance and accounting was established after receiving the approval from the Ministry of Education in 2007. The accounting major was named as the characteristic specialties of Jiangsu Province in 2008 and Management Information became quality courses of Jiangsu Province in 2009.

We attach great importance to scientific researches and actively encourage the faculty to carry out reaches. During 2006 to 2011, we have a total of 262 scientific researches of all levels including 15 funded by national government, 59 funded by provinces and ministries, 72 funded by city governments and 20 horizontal issues. The contract funds is 8.79 million yuan. The staff have published a total of 535 academic papers including more than 338 in core journals and 28 monographs and won 65 awards at all levels. We have research institutions like Research Center for prospering Jiangsu Province with Talents, Research Base for Technology and Policy of Environmental Management, Research Base for Human Resource in Science and Technology, China Association for Science and Technology and so on. A number of teachers won the titles of outstanding educators of technical economics, experts with important contributions to national long-term development planning strategy, experts with special government allowances and young experts with outstanding contributions to Jiangsu Province. Many teachers also serve as economic advisers of governments and societies at all levels and distinguished experts.

In recent years, we have carried out international exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities widely and have had a number of professional bilingual teaching pilots. Our education and teaching is catching up with international practices step by step. The staff are united and have always been committed to “educating first-class talents, making first-class results and benefits and being the first –class school”.
