School of Information and Control (SIC) at NUIST was initially established in 1993 as Department of Information and Communication Engineering and then Department of Information and communication. After adjustment, SIC was officially founded in 2006. The school has 87 core faculty including 12 full professors.
SIC comprises of 5 departments, which are Instruments Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Information System Engineering and Internet of Things. The graduate school of Information and System Science, the Meteorological instrumentation and automation Research Institute, the Systems Engineering research institute, the Automation research institute, the Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems Research Institute, the Electrical Automation Research Institute, the Complicated System Research Institute, a Provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, A metalworking experiment center, and 14 professional research laboratories. The school offers undergraduate degrees in Automation, Observation and control technology and instrument, Information Engineering and Internet of things. The college has a student body of 1400 strong. The college’s graduate school, which has 200 more students now, offers master degrees and Ph.D. degrees in related areas.
Undergraduate & Postgraduate Education System
Established in 1993, the SIC promotes high quality studies within a robust academic and learning environment and nurtures graduates with innovative thinking and abilities that relate practical work with theoretical results. The school has one PhD program in the specialty of Meteorology Information Technology and Security, and two master programs for master students in the specialties of System science and Information and communication engineering.The school has now 5 doctorial supervisors and 22 masters’ tutors, who are supervising 12 PhD candidates and over 136 master students.
Staff & Students
As of December 2012, the SIC census was as follows:
• 87 core faculty including 12 full professors;
