Professional strength: This major possesses a master authorized unit of engineering. It is the "excellence in engineering education and professional training plan" of the ministry of education and the key discipline in “12th Five-Year" of Jiangsu province. It has a national engineering practice education center and a provincial experiment teaching demonstration center on environmental science and engineering. Currently, it has 21 of full-time teachers, including 6 professors, 13 teachers with the overseas training background.
Training objectives: This major aims to cultivate the students' proficiency in basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills on environmental monitoring, water pollution control, air pollution control, solid waste disposal and resource utilization, etc. Then, the students possess innovative and entrepreneurial abilities on pollutants monitoring, control and management that can be engaged in various colleges and universities, environmental protection departments, scientific research institutions and large enterprises.
Main courses: environmental monitoring, water analytical chemistry, microbiology of environmental engineering, principle of environmental engineering, water pollution control, principle and technology of watershed pollution control, air pollution control, solid waste disposal and recycling, advanced mathematics, college physics, college chemistry, engineering drawing, engineering mechanics, engineering fluid mechanics, engineering drawing, engineering economics, etc.
Guide for the students’ further study: Post-graduate study on environmental science & engineering, environmental engineering, municipal engineering and environmental science, etc.
Guide for the students’ employment: Work on the government departments of environmental protection, municipal engineering, large or medium-sized enterprises engaged in pollution control technology research and development (R&D), pollution control engineering on design, construction and daily management, etc.
