Focusing on the fields of cloud and precipitation, weather modification and atmospheric aerosol, etc., he has presided over and completed four national natural science foundation projects (Nos. 49060017, 49565010, 40175003 and 40365002) and provincial/ministerial projects respectively. Projects under research include one key National Natural Science Foundation Project, one Doctoral Scientific Fund Project of the Ministry of Education, one Social Public Welfare Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and one major Basic Natural Science Research Project, Jiangsu Department of Education. Moreover, he obtained two Second Prizes and three Third Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province, was appraised as A National Excellent Scientific & Technological Worker by China Society and Technology Association and A National Excellent Meteorological Worker (a Provincial/Ministerial Model Worker) by the Ministry of Personnel and China Meteorological Administration; was selected into the “333 High-level Talented People Training Program” of Jiangsu Province; went abroad to participate in international academic conferences or pay a visit as a research scientist on invitation five times successively; paid a visit to International Centre for Theoretical Physics (in Italy) as an advanced visiting scholar for three months under the recommendation and support of National Natural Science Foundation; published more than 30 academic papers on professional authoritative periodicals and core publications; proposed and implemented the technique for tracking trans-provincial artificial precipitation operation by the cloud and precipitation system. Cloud physics research achievements scored by him have been publicized and applied to the weather modification operation, with remarkable social, economic and ecological benefits. With regard to the study of dust aerosol, he has tentatively set up the conceptual model of dust aerosol microstructure in the northwestern region.
