In the afternoon of July 7th, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, hosted by World Meteorological Organization Nanjing Regional Training Center , Seminar on Meteorological Disaster Mitigation and Rescue for Developing Countries was held in NUIST. Vice president of NUIST Min Jinzhong attended and delivered the speech in the ceremony. Executive Deputy Director of WMO Regional Training Center, professor Wang Suchun presided over the ceremony .
Vice president Min Jinzhong in his speech pointed out that the seminar includes mechanism of severe weather disaster, climate change and meteorological disasters, early warning of agro-meteorological disasters, rescue practice and experience of meteorological disasters, as well as the current operational emergency warning release system in China. It also included study tours to local satellite equipment producer and Shanghai Meteorological Service. He hope those lectures and tours will carry long-term benefits to participants to higher accuracy and efficiency of disaster mitigation and rescue of their countries. This seminar provides participants with the benefit by mutual discussion platform, mutual exchange of needed products.
On behalf of the participants, Mr. Gutierrez Rodriguez Ismael from Panama appreciated Chinese government, Ministry of Commerce Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and WMO Regional Training Center Nanjing organized this seminar. He pointed out in his speech, from this training they have learned new knowledge and new skills. They look forward to participate in more similar seminars. During the training, the participants also learned Chinese culture, visited places of interest, showing the love for Chinese and Chinese culture.
At the end of the closing ceremony, participants gave gifts to the university and had group photo with each other.
