School of Management Science and Engineering
Historical development：TheSchool of Management Science and Engineering (hereinafter referred to as “the School”) was established in 2017. The School can be traced back to School of Economics and Management in August 2006. The School focuses on higher education with the market as the guide and teaching team construction as the guarantee, to deepen the teaching reform, to normalize the teaching management and to constantly optimize the educational environment. The School has cultivated numerous innovative, versatile and applied talents for Jiangsu province, Yangtze delta area and other places of China.
Degree Programs：Our School offers one doctor degree program for Management Science and Engineering (first-level discipline); one master degree program for Management Science and Engineering (first-level discipline); one professional master degree program for Financial Engineering; three undergraduate degree programs for Information Management and Information System, Logistics Management, Financial Engineering. The School now has 1082 undergraduates and 45 postgraduates.
Teaching Faculty: The School has built a team of full-time and part-time teachers led by Pro. Li Lianshui. There are currently 68 full-time and part-time teachers, among which there are 28 associate professors and 9 full professors, and 20 lecturers. There are 16 doctoral supervisors and 24 master student supervisors in the degree programs of our School. The ratio of doctors of full-time teachers is 98% (including PhD candidates). Many teachers of our School are the experts receiving the government special allowance distributed by the State Council, Middle-aged and Young Experts of Outstanding Contribution in Jiangsu Province, and selected in top-level talents programs of Jiangsu province such as “333 Project”, “Blue Project”, “Six Talents Peak” and so on.
Practical Teaching: Based on the idea of “cooperative education, chain integration”, the School focuses on the cultivation of the students’ innovative and entrepreneurial abilities, and insists on the integration of production and education, science and education, teachers’ education and students’ education. The School establishes Management Science and Engineering Research Center jointly with Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academy of Social Science in Jiangsu province. With the support of the university’s “Three Hundred Project”, the School combines famous enterprises (JPMorgan Chase & Co, Huawei, ZTE Corporation, Suning, Jingdong etc.) to implement the plan of “Industry Professor”, construct the base of “ Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, so the enterprises are deeply involved in the discipline planning, teaching design, curriculum setup and internship training of majors of economics and management, to integrate enterprises’ needs into personnel training, and to improve the innovative personnel training system driven by the market demand. The major “Information Management and Information System” was awarded the first batch of brand major of Jiangsu province (A-class financial aid) in 2015, and was evaluated as excellent in mid-term assessment (only 32 out of 258 majors in the province) in 2017. The School has some provincial and ministerial practical teaching platforms such as “Economics and Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center” etc., offers some online courses such as Statistics, Operational Research, Basis of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Econometrics etc., has published over 30 teaching materials such as E-commerce Theory and Practice, Business Intelligence and Data Mining, Logistics Management etc.. Over 20 teachers have won Outstanding Teaching Award above the university level, and over 20 educational and teaching achievement projects and awards above the provincial level.
School-running Characteristics: 1. More than 60% full-time teachers have overseas study or working experience. Most teachers are in the prime of life and have strong research and teaching abilities. 2. Our School possesses the first-class teaching software and hardware, rigorous and standard teaching management, and several provincial teaching and research platforms to ensure the successful implementation of the teaching affairs and scientific researches. 3. Our School has entered into the cooperation agreements with Cornell University, Harvard University, George Mason University, University of Nevada, Reno, North Carolina State University, University of Reading, Radboud University Nijmegen and ESC Rennes School of Business etc. so as to enhance the internalization of our students. 4. Our School pays attention to the quality-oriented education and strives to improve the humanistic quality of our students. Our School has various club activities which provide better developing platform for improving the comprehensive quality of students.

Li Lianshui
Professor, doctoral supervisor, Chief Expert. As the former president and secretary of the Party of Nanjing University of Information Science and Engineering, Prof. Li is an expert of the Seventh Discipline Comment Group of Management Science and Engineering of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, a committee member of the Seventh Scientific and Technical Commission of the Ministry of Education, a Chinese Outstanding Technical Economy Educator, one of the experts making important contributions to Research on National Planning Strategy of the medium and long term development of Science and Technology, a demonstrating expert of the National Important Specialized Projects of Science and Technology, and one of the experts receiving the government special allowance distributed by the State Council.
Prof. Li’s research area includes science and technology innovation, manufacturing industry, knowledge economy etc.
Prof. Li has published over 30 monographs including Research Report on the Development of China’s Manufacturing Industry etc. and over 200 research papers. He has hosted many national projects and is awarded the first prize of National Teaching Outcome Award, the third prize of Outstanding Achievements of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, and the first prize of Outstanding Achievements of Philosophy and Social Science of Jiangsu Province etc.
Li Beiqun
Professor, doctoral supervisor. As one of the experts receiving the government special allowance distributed by the State Council, Prof. Li is currently the president of Nanjing University of Information Science and Engineering. He is also a standing director of China Association of Higher Education, a deputy secretary general of Chinese Meteorological Society, a vice chairman of China Association of Higher Education and a vice chairman of Association of Productivity Science of Jiangsu Province.
Prof. Li’s research area includes educational system engineering etc.
Prof. Li has hosted many National Social Science Fund and other projects etc. He has also published 40 SSCI-indexed/SCI(E)-indexed /CSSCI-indexed research papers etc.
Gong Zaiwu
professor, doctoral tutor, visiting scholar of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Prof. Gong is currently the dean of the School of Management Science and Engineering in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. He is also a guest editor of Natural Hazards, a director of four branches in Operations Research Society of China (Uncertainty, Intelligence, Decision Science, and Enterprise Operational Research), a director of Grey System branch in Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics, and a director of the Risk Analysis Committee of China Association for Disaster Prevention and the Systems Engineering Committee for water conservancy.
Prof. Gong’s research area includes decision making theory under uncertainty or grey system and risk assessment theory for meteorological disasters.
Prof. Gong has received three awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, and has directed three projects for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project for the Humanities and Social Science Foundation of the Chinese National Ministry of Education, one project for the General Program of Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation, and five provincial projects of funding talents. He is also a contributor of Academic Committee Development Plan for the Chinese Meteorological Society of Meteorological Disasters and Services. He has published over 80 research papers, including 40 papers in ISI Web of Knowledge (SCI/SSCI), on Chinese and foreign academic journals, such as OMEGA, EJOR, KBS, ASC and etc. He also has four monographs published by Science Press and Springer Press and one textbook published by Meteorological Press.
Liu Jun
Professor, post doctor, doctoral supervisor, visiting scholar of University of Nevada, Reno. As a director of the Regional Science Association of China, Prof. Liu is currently is the secretary of the Party of School of Management Science and Engineering. He is also in charge of China Institute for Manufacture Developing. He is one of the Middle-aged and Young academic leaders of “Blue Project” in Jiangsu province.
Prof. Liu’s research area includes regional economy, industrial economy etc.
Prof. Liu has hosted 1 National Social Science Fund, 5 provincial projects. He has also published 60 SSCI-indexed/SCI(E)-indexed /CSSCI-indexed research papers etc., and is awarded the third prize of Excellent Papers of the second China Talent Development Form and the second prize of Excellent Papers of Academic Conference of Philosophy and Social Science of Jiangsu Province.
Huang Rui
Associate Professor. Prof. Huang is currently a vice secretary of the Party and a vice dean of School of Management Science and Engineering.
Prof. Huang’s research area includes ideological and political education
Prof. Huang has hosted 1 provincial scientific research task. He has also participated in and completed 3 scientific research tasks above provincial level, one of which is awarded the second prize of the provincial teaching achievement. Prof. Huang has published over 10 research papers in academic journals at or above provincial level in recent years.
Zhang Huiming
Professor, doctoral supervisor, visiting scholar of Cornell University. Prof. Zhang is currently a vice dean of the School of Management Science and Engineering. He is one of the Middle-aged and Young academic leaders of “Blue Project” in Jiangsu province. He is also selected in “Six Talents Peak” in Jiangsu province.
Prof. Zhang’s research area includes climate change, energy policy etc.
Prof. Zhang has published many national scientific research projects, over 60 SSCI-indexed/SCI(E)-indexed /CSSCI-indexed research papers etc., and is awarded the first prize of the Teaching Achievement in Jiangsu province many times.
Cao Ling
Professor, doctoral supervisor, visiting scholar of Many Universities abroad. Prof. Cao is currently a vice dean of the School of Management Science and Engineering.
Prof. Cao’s research area includes information resource management, digital humanities etc.
Prof. Cao has hosted National Social Science Fund, Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of Ministry of Education etc.. Prof. Cao has published over 30 SSCI-indexed/SCI(E)-indexed /CSSCI-indexed research papers etc. and 2 monographs. She is also the chief editor of 3 teaching materials.
Yu Xiaobing
Associate professor, postgraduate supervisor. Prof. Yu received Ph.D. degree from Wuhan University of Technology of China in 2010. He was a research associate in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from November 1, 2009 to July 1, 2010 and visiting scholar in Oklahoma State University of USA from June 1, 2016 to December 1, 2016.
Prof. Yu’s research area includes emergency management, evolutionary computation & application, big data analysis.
Prof. Yu has published more than fifty papers, in which seventeen papers are indexed by SSCI/SCI. He has also hosted China Natural Science Foundation and other projects.
Cao Guangxi
Professor, doctoral supervisor, visiting scholar of University of York. Prof. Cao is currently the dean of Binjiang College.
Prof. Cao’s research area includes finance engineering and quantitative economicsetc.
Prof. Cao has hosted many national projects. He has also published over 50 SSCI-indexed/SCI(E)-indexed /CSSCI-indexed research papers etc. and 3 monographs.

In recent five years our School has undertaken over 150 research projects, including 31 national projects, 41 provincial projects, 38 municipal projects and 16 horizontal projects, with the total contract funds of 16,810,000 yuan.
Research Achievements
In recent five years our teachers have published over 320 academic papers, including over 250 papers published on the core journals, 19 monographs and received 22 prizes at all levels.
